20th Pollux Awards - Overall Winners

The Jurors Frank Meo and Julio Hirsch-Hardy have selected the two winners of the 20th Pollux Awards, one in the professional section and the other in the non professional section. The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards have the pleasure to announce that Dai Nakamura, from Yokohama, Japan, has been awarded as Winner of the Professional Section of the 20th Pollux Awards, and Patricia McElroy, from Broomall, PA, USA, has been awarded as Winner of the Non Professional Section of the 20th Pollux Awards.

PROFESSIONAL SECTION: DAI NAKAMURA, YOKOHAMA, JAPAN.

Nakamura’s statement: Humans are naturally solitary beings generating interaction when able to communicate sharing feelings. Harmony occurs when solitude and interaction coexist. This series captures the casual, daily, commonplace atmosphere of The Early Birds Diner, and the daily relief as lonely sentiments are released while talking and eating. These everyday aspects of daily life result in harmony.

NON PROFESSIONAL SECTION: PATRICIA McELROY, BROOMALL, PA, USA.

McElroy’s statement: As I examine my images and delve into archival family photographs, the moments that look back at me reveal connective tissue between the past and the present as they explore themes of belonging, memory structures, and cultural identity.
